During National Road Safety Week
in late November, Phoenix Surfacing announced it would be distributing
on a first come, first served basis,
a number of reflective arm bands
and reflectors to schools and youth clubs in Northamptonshire for young
children to wear to help them to stay safe.
The following schools and clubs, from across the county of Northamptonshire, are the happy beneficiaries who are helping their children and club members to stay safe:
•  Bridgewater Primary School,
   Abington, Northampton
•  Whitehills Primary School,
   Kingsthorpe, Northampton
•  Finedon Infants and Junior School,
   Finedon, Wellingborough
•  St Lukes CEA Primary School,
   Duston, Northampton
•  Brixworth Primary School, Brixworth
•  Mawsley Primary School,
   Mawsley, Kettering
•  St Edwards Primary School, Kettering
•  Corby Children’s Triathlon Club, Corby
Reflecting on the initiative, Joint Managing Director, Alistair Lauder said, “Being able to highlight the dangers young road users face and help them to be seen is important. Given the growing number of pot holes it is too easy for drivers to be looking out for them and not other road users. We need to address both issues simultaneously”
This campaign is part of the wider road safety initiative aimed at
young road users in Northamptonshire using its very own cartoon
character Bessie. You can still download a free Bessie poster from
The company also has produced a simple guide to preventing potholes and that can be found on the news page of our website.
